Most of our drivers are ignorant and they are careless about triatic rules and regulations. Besides, they don’t have proper training on traffic rules. Very often they drive their vehicles recklessly. Pedestrians are often responsible for street accidents. They cross the roads here and there. To save the pedestrians, drivers sometimes lase control and accidents occur. Moreover, most of the vehicles are defective and unlicensed. While driving, many drivers use mobile phones. This also causes street accidents.
All these are responsible for street accidents. The harms and lasses of street accidents beggar description. Every year, street accidents take heavy toll of lives. People lose their near and dear ones forever. Those who survive broom accidents become disabled or paralyzed. They become burden to family and society. To stop or reduce, street accidents, strict laws must be introduced. Proper planning is needed of the time of conducting roads. Roads and streets should be spacious. Modern and scientific traffic system should be introduced. Driving license should be issued after proper training and test. The defective vehicles should not be allowed on the roads. Reckless driving must be stopped. Above all, people should be made conscious about the dangers of street accidents. Taking all these steps, we can expect safe travel in vehicles and can minimize accidents.

সড়ক দুর্ঘটনা এখন বাংলাদেশে একটি বড় উদ্বেগের বিষয় হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে। প্রতিদিনই আমরা সংবাদপত্র এবং অন্যান্য ইলেক্ট্রোটোনিক মিডিয়া থেকে একের পর এক দুর্ঘটনা এবং এত মানুষের মৃত্যুর খবর জানতে পারি। বাংলাদেশে কোনোভাবেই অস্বাভাবিকভাবে এত মানুষ মারা যায় না। রাস্তায় দুর্ঘটনার কারণ রয়েছে। আমাদের দেশের রাস্তা-ঘাট সরু এবং অনেক বাঁক ও মোড় রয়েছে। আমাদের বেশিরভাগ চালক অজ্ঞ এবং তারা ত্রয়ী নিয়ম-কানুন সম্পর্কে উদাসীন। এছাড়া তাদের ট্রাফিক নিয়ম সম্পর্কে সঠিক প্রশিক্ষণ নেই। অনেক সময় তারা বেপরোয়াভাবে যানবাহন চালায়। রাস্তার দুর্ঘটনার জন্য প্রায়ই পথচারীরা দায়ী। তারা এখানে-সেখানে রাস্তা পার হচ্ছে। পথচারীদের বাঁচাতে চালকরা মাঝে মাঝে নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে দুর্ঘটনা ঘটছে। তাছাড়া অধিকাংশ যানবাহনই ত্রুটিপূর্ণ ও লাইসেন্সবিহীন। গাড়ি চালানোর সময় অনেক চালক মোবাইল ফোন ব্যবহার করেন। এতে সড়ক দুর্ঘটনাও ঘটছে।
এসবই সড়ক দুর্ঘটনার জন্য দায়ী। পথ দুর্ঘটনার ক্ষতি ও ক্ষতির বর্ণনা ভিক্ষুক। প্রতি বছর সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় প্রাণহানি ঘটে। মানুষ তার কাছের মানুষগুলোকে চিরতরে হারায়। ঝাড়ু দুর্ঘটনায় যারা বেঁচে যায় তারা পঙ্গু বা পঙ্গু হয়ে যায়। তারা পরিবার ও সমাজের বোঝা হয়ে দাঁড়ায়। সড়ক দুর্ঘটনা বন্ধ বা কমাতে হলে কঠোর আইন করতে হবে। রাস্তা পরিচালনার সময় সঠিক পরিকল্পনা প্রয়োজন। রাস্তা-ঘাট প্রশস্ত হতে হবে। আধুনিক ও বিজ্ঞানসম্মত ট্রাফিক ব্যবস্থা চালু করতে হবে। যথাযথ প্রশিক্ষণ ও পরীক্ষার পর ড্রাইভিং লাইসেন্স প্রদান করতে হবে। ত্রুটিপূর্ণ যানবাহন রাস্তায় চলতে দেওয়া উচিত নয়। বেপরোয়া গাড়ি চালানো বন্ধ করতে হবে। সর্বোপরি সড়ক দুর্ঘটনার ঝুঁকি সম্পর্কে জনগণকে সচেতন করতে হবে। এই সমস্ত পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করে, আমরা যানবাহনে নিরাপদ ভ্রমণ আশা করতে পারি এবং দুর্ঘটনা হ্রাস করতে পারি।
